I THINK I TURNED THE CORNER
“I consulted with Dr. Nunez in October of 2010 regarding my chronic fatigue and lack of sleep. My name is Drew Dobson, and I work at the Henderson County Clerks office. For the past 5 years I have gained up to 40 pounds and have tried multiple diet plans in order to lose weight. Last year , January 2011, I started doing a Zumba class 2 to 4 times per week, resulting in loosing only a few inches, but no weight loss. Hi Dr. Nunez,
I have lots of info. so I’ll try to be as brief as possible. I’ve been a health & fitness enthusiast for many years but am having serious health issues presently. The last 4 years I’ve suffered with chronic plantar fasciitis as well as having neuropathy in my feet mostly. The neuropathy has been with me several years, probably 10ish.I’ve attacked this from every known possible answer(i.e.podiatry, inserts, etc…) Nothing has worked. I’ve had to stop all running and presently cannot work out. Some days I can hardly walk. This has changed my life completely. I ordinarily worked out 6 days a week and now I can hardly walk sometimes. I moved here from Nashville 1 year ago and have been under quite a bit of stress. I have been tested in the past for diabetes and am not. I recently found a blog(have been trying everything for years)of women who had my symptoms and was using Armour Thyroid due to having hypothyroid. You were the first doctor online who knew exactly the scoop about this drug and how hard it is to get family doc to prescribe. This I feel is maybe my answer to my health issues. I have gained weight because of this and feel terrible. I don’t want to go the route of family doc because it’ll take too long.
Do you think you could help me and if so, do you take insurance. Can I come to you without having to get a referral. My family doc is in Gibson Co., the clinic is free to all family of employees so I don’t want to take this to her. Too far.
Sorry such a long letter but lots of info.
I am almost 49. Had complete hysty. in 2000. I already take quality supplements but probably too many. I don’t drink, smoke or use drugs.
I am praying that a low thyroid could be my answer. My sister takes Synthroid which I don’t want to take and am hoping you can help me.
Many thanks,
Suzy Lovell
Hi Suzy,
stress and hormonal changes can cause a great deal of issues, as well as wear and tear on your body. foot problems common over the years from running. Now your stress coping glands…hypothalamus, thyroid and adrenal may be bankrupted and sluggish. Most lab work wont pick up any abnormalities until advanced. You should have an updated thyroid panel done including free T3, Free T4 and reversed T3 and T4. Even if normal, one classic home test is to check your body temp first thing in the morning before you get up with a mercury thermometer and place under your armpit, wait a few minutes and record. If below 97.8 degrees, a good indication of a sluggish thyroid. There are natural protocol to take with this with or without thyroid medicine.
If you have a digital thermometer, then wait 2 hours after eating and drinking in the am and around 9 am check your temp. record your temp for 3 mornings in a row.
I do consult in the office and if you like call 270-826-1077.
If you have any lab test bring them with you, and if you have any records from your MD or endocrinologist…this would be helpful.
